Dedication of the
Emil J. Mihalik Center for Byzantine Catholic Culture
Discover the Eparchy of Parma. Who are we? Where did we come
from? What about our homeland in Eastern Europe? What
leaders brought us to where we are today-our bishops,
religious and laity? Experience all this and more;visit the
new Emil J. Mihalik Center for Byzantine Catholic Culture.
Named for the first bishop of the Eparchy of Parma under
whose leadership the Church of Parma found a new impetus of
life, the Center enjoys an associate relationship with the
John
Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, D.C. and
celebrates those Christian cultures that grew from that of
Constantinople, cultures in which the Apostolic Tradition
has thrived. The Center also promotes those elements of our
21st century American culture that can support and sustain
Byzantine Catholic Christianity, while challenging those
elements of our culture contrary to the Tradition.
The Center cooperates with numerous educational centers, and
maintains close relationships with various ethnic museums,
notably the Cleveland Carpatho-Rusyn Cultural Museum, housed
within the Cathedral complex. Because of the extent of the
eparchy, special attention will be given to internet-based
distance learning, special webcast presentations and
podcasting.
Volunteers have been working hard to create a new suitable
space to showcase our past and present and inspire hope for
the future. The museum will be open for visitors during the
40th Anniversary Celebration Weekend.
The official dedication of the Emil J. Mihalik Center for
Byzantine Catholic Culture will take place on Sunday of the
Celebration Weekend at noon. All are invited! |
